ELMER D. PENDLETON (Age 83)  Maj. Gen., USA (Ret.)  
Died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at home. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he enlisted in the Army on his 17th birthday. He served three years as an enlisted man, then graduated in 1951 from the US Military Academy at West Point. He served 35 years as an Army Officer with assignments in Europe and Asia including the Korean, Vietnam and Cold Wars. His awards include the Defense and Army Distinguished Service Medals, four Silver Stars, nine Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anne of Falls Church, VA; daughter, Allison L. Connor (Jerry) of Savannah, GA; two sons, LTC John K. Lange, USA (Ethel) of Germany and Christian D. Pendleton of Falls Church; his grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Lange; his brother, James H. Pendleton (Carol), the soldiers with whom he served and a grateful Nation. Funeral services will take place at Fort Myer with burial to follow in Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be announced.

Elmer Pendleton will live in the heart's of many forever: his best friend and loving wife Anne, his children, grandchildren, soldiers and friends. He was a hero, role model to all that knew him and touch many that did not know him personally but knew of him. He wiil be missed here on earth but we all have many beautiful memories that will be with us for our lifetime. He is at peace.
