Born in Bethesda, MD on March 23, 1951 and raised in Kensington, MD, she was the daughter of Donald and Edith Dunlap, who predeceased her. She graduated in 1973 from Catholic University with a degree in Speech and Drama. She traveled the world entertaining for the USO and Catholic U. Laurie became an accomplished stage singer and actress in the Washington Metropolitan Area and starred in many local musical theater productions, the most memorable of which were "Hello Dolly'' and "Mame''. She also produced and starred in her one woman show "Affairs of the Heart''. Laurie had thirty years experience in theatrical and special event production and management including numerous charity fundraising events. She was the Executive Director of The Public Relations Society of America-NCC and later the Advertising Club of Metropolitan Washington. For the last ten years Laurie has been the owner/producer of a traveling theater group called "Murder Mysteries Will Travel''. She was, in all respects, a shining star in the lives of all those she touched. The endless happy memories she created as a sister, aunt, neighbor, actress and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. She is survived by two sisters, Donna Seelye with her husband, Del and their three sons Bob, Ken and Matt and Roberta Wolcott with her husband, Glenn and their two sons, Donald and Devon; as well as her very close friend, Hans Bachman. I am so sorry to learn of Laurie's passing. I too was one of her classmates at Einstein High, who met her during Camelot, but since she was a year ahead of me, didn't really get to know her and the full measure of her talent until Brigadoon. I remember thinking at the time, how is this beautiful, talented girl in high school? I was so fortunate and proud to be her date for her Senior Prom, and remember dancing afterwards in Hope Van Hosen's basement - we had a ball! And it is wonderful to see the many heartfelt comments of my fellow classmates so beautifully presented on these pages. That is how you know what a special person Laurie was. And no one was more committed to their vision of the future than Laurie - it is good to know that she was able to achieve that vision. Like so many of us we lost touch during college, and I only wish that I could have seen her one more time to share a fond memory of our high school years. She will be missed.

I am so sorry hearing of Laurie’s passing. I have such fond memories of Laurie – what a kind hearted soul – she had a larger than life personality. I got to know Laurie by being her parent’s neighbor in Kensington. Laurie was a loving and caring daughter to her parents and gave selflessly to help them with their every need; it was touching to see how loving they were together. It was an honor knowing the Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap and Laurie. My thoughts are with Laurie’s family and friends.

Laurie and I first met on the set of Einstein High’s production of Brigadoon. After graduation, we worked together a few times on various gigs and musical endeavors and then again in the mid-nineties when she briefly joined our choral group Encore led at that time by John Scott (our choir director at Einstein). I had the great pleasure of seeing her in several local musical productions over the years including the two roles that she really seemed to own; Dolly (in Hello Dolly) and Mama Rose (in Mame). She was a truly gifted singer and performer who was also a really nice person. She will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Laurie on numerous productions with Rockville Musical Theatre. We also served together on their board of directors for several years. So sorry to learn of her passing.

Laurie was a year ahead of me at Einstein H.S. and we first met when she was in Camelot and I was the pianist. Later, we were onstage in Brigadoon together and studied voice with the same voice teacher and were in choir at school. Laurie was gentle and kind and I never heard her raise her voice to anyone, except in singing a high note! She will always be Fiona in Brigadoon to me and I still hear her lovely voice on the recording. I'm sorry I won't see her at the reunion this year as I haven't seen her since H.S. days and I was looking forward to reconnecting. My prayers go out to her family and friends who loved her.

I walked by her childhood home just days ago and told my wife how her and Janet Hobbs were great friends as elementary kids at Oakland Terrace. It was a neighborhood full of kids and open doors. I had no idea of her talent and regret never hearing her voice in song. My childhood memories of her and the all the fellowship of youth are still my fondest thoughts.

A star in everyone's heart. She brought much joy and love to me and all who knew her. The world is a richer place for having her here. An unreplacable loss but her light will continue to burn bright in our hearts and we will always remember her.

What a loss of a kind, sweet person. Always had a smile and nice word for everyone in high school. And her voice was just fantastic.

Laurie Dunlap and I attended the same high school and graduated the same year. She was an encouragement to me in our English class. She had more faith in me than I did myself. We also shared a room at All State Chorus in Baltimore, MD. I loved her voice so much that she sang in my wedding. She will, no doubt, leave a big void. She will be greatly missed.

To Laurie's family and friends,

A gorgeous woman and a glorious voice. I had the great pleasure of working with Laurie in murder mysteries....she was always a wonderful entertainer and friend.

I will always remember her "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" as she flirted with the audience. It has been a while since we have workred together, but I shall never forget her .

Please keep me posted on plans for a memorial service.

Laurie Dunlap was always encouraging me in the English class we shared at Albert Einstein High School. She had more faith in me than I did myself. We sang a lot together and were room mates at All State Chorus in Baltimore, MD. I loved her voice so much that she sang in my wedding. She will be missed so very much.

Laurie was my friend in high school and we sat next to each other in basic musicianship class with Mr. Heier. We were in choir and madrigal singers together and two musicals, Camelot and Brigadoon, the latter show she was the lead in with Lee Rowse. Brigadoon was wonderful and Mr. Scott, our choir director and Mr. Heier, the orchestra director, both agreed that her introduction to the song, "From This Day On," was nearly perfect in the way she delivered it. I never saw her again after high school and was hoping for a reunion with the choir to see old friends. She will be missed.

Two years ahead of me in High School, Laurie was among the first to inspire me to do more with my talent. She was always gracious and kind, with a voice of an angel. Her lead performance in our high school performance of "Brigadoon" was stunning, and to this day I can still hear her beautiful soprano voice. Although we lost contact after high school, she was never forgotten....her beauty and talent was a gift, and those of us who had the joy of knowing her and performing with her were all the more blessed.
