Libby and I offer our deepest sympathy to the Bechet family. I worked closely with Leon for many years and always found Leon to be a man of great principle and thoughtfulness. We also had many interesting discussions of religion, church history, and Catholic theology. We all will miss this kind and giving man.

I will miss my dearest cousin, Deacon Leon Bechet. He was my spiritual guardian angel. I don’t feel I would have made it after Hurricane Katrina; if not for his professional guidance and, his constraint prayers.
I got to know my cousin even better in the last ten years, as not only an amazing and smart person but, as a wonderful spiritual leader and a good listener. There was nothing I could not talk to him about. He was never judgmental, and always had time for me.
He was very smart and helped me in a lot of my school assignments. He always had the correct answer for me. He would research for the answer over the computer if he didn’t know it off the top of his head; which was very seldom! Leon, ALWAYS had the correct answer!
He was not just my first cousin but, more like a caring and loving brother. Leon, was someone I was/am very proud of as a relative and, a god-fearing man.
I prayed for a miracle that he may stand tall and walk again. My prayers have been answered. Leon is now standing tall and walking with Jesus at his side in heaven.
I’ll miss my cousin but, I feel he is still with me every time I kneel to pray. Thank you God, for placing Leon in my life.
