Mildred Critchlow Obituary

CRITCHLOW MILDRED E. CRITCHLOW Budget Analyst Mildred E. Critchlow, 94, died July 26, 2009 of Lymphoma cancer, at her home in Annandale, Virginia. Mrs. Critchow was born and raised in Southeast Washington in 1915, where her father was a conductor on the city trolleys. She attended Eastern High School, graduating in 1934 and went on to get an advanced degree from Strayer Business College in 1938. Mrs. Critchlow was a Budget Analyst with the Navy Telecommunication Command, from January 1942 to November 5, 1977. She was an active member of her church, Friendship United Methodist Church in Falls Church. Until last year, she served as the hospitality chair of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees. Locally, she was a member of the Annandale Women''s Club and a small local bridge group. On May 5, 2000 , she received an Outstanding Senior Adult Award from Fairfax County. Mrs. Critchlow''s husband of 44 years, Carlos E. Critchlow, died in 1987. Mrs. Critchlow is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Tom Largent of Falls Church, VA; a grandson and his wife, Tom III and Valarie Largent of New Bremen, OH; a granddaughter and her husband, Christina and Chris Ryan of Reston, VA; and six great grandchildren - Michael, Nicholas, Abigail, and Emma Ann Largent and David and Isabel Ryan. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 31, at 1p.m., at her church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to her church and the Annandale Women''s Club.
