To the family of Pastor Shearin: Rev. Shearin was quite simply one of the most inspirational people I have met in my career. His profound commitment to serving people, and his determination to leave a legacy that would improve life for people - were inspirational to me. My colleagues and I at Enterprise Community Partners marveled at Pastor Shearin's dedication to learning, late in his career - about what it would take to effectively build affordable housing and a life learning center to serve the community around Israel Baptist Church. And he wanted to do it with integrity and honor. I shed tears at the grand opening of the life learning center because Rev. Shearin reminded me of what it looks like to see a person serve God faithfully. I will miss him. I salute him. I thank God for Rev. Shearin's legacy. I pray God will comfort his family - biological and church family - with a peace that surpasses all understanding. May your grief be grounded in gratitude.

To Mrs. Shearin and family, It has been a long time since Rev. Shearin, along with you and Felicia and Morris,Jr. were with us at Wake Chapel Baptist Church in Raleigh but we still remember and often speak of your family, whom we loved dearly. I am Pearlene (Curtis)Williams, who was the piano player for the church at that time. My gospel group stopped by some years ago and sung a few songs there at Israel and we had a good time. We are so sorry to hear of Rev. Shearin's passing but the works that he did down here on earth truly speaks for him. We all loved him and cherish the memories from Wake Chapel. May God bless you and your family and your church family. On behalf of myself and my family, we love you and God does too.
