WILLIAM RALPH THOMAS OAKES, JR. "Bill" (Age 73)
Of Potomac, MD, died suddenly on February 9, 2011. Beloved husband of Dee; son of Jane Oakes of Hampton, VA; father of Bill (Shea) of Atlanta GA; Patricia Poulos (Phil) of Darnestown, MD; grandfather to Katherine, Ansley, Charlotte, and Lealand. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters, three stepsons, and a host of other relatives.A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to: Georgia Tech Foundation, 760 Spring St, NW,#400, Atlanta, GA 30308, ATTN: Oakes Chair in Aerospace Engineering.

Goodbye to a dear, good man who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Bill's unfailing contribution to MAC, support of his alma mater(s) and many charities will be long remembered with appreciation.
My prayers are with you and Bill's family, Dee. What a terrible loss.
