Jim and I talk about him often. Such a good, pleasant person to be around. His intelligence and varied interest always made good conversation, but above everything else, his good soul makes us miss him. Our thoughts and prayers of support are always with those who knew him better than we did. I can only imagine their sense of loss.

Zack was one of the finest people I ever knew. He was a gentleman and the most well-grounded individual I ever knew. He was never judgmental and accepted people for themselves. Zack was the most intriguing person that I ever knew and he was one to be loved by all. You gave your family so much pleasure and you will be missed each minute of every day.

Zackster...I will always cherish the time spent with you and your family. My fondest memories being playing ball (wiffle & hard), micro league and your smile. Thoughts and prayers. RIP.

Zack was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Over the last six years, Zack and his family became part of my family and each time he came to New York or we met out in Notre Dame to watch a game, I always felt like I had a true friend in Zack. To his dear family and friends, Zack will be missed but never forgotten.

I was out of town last week and was totally shocked and saddened by the news of Zach's accident. Please know that George and I are holding your family in our prayers. We're so sorry for your loss.
Zach was an all around talented student who was an example to all of the other students in Walkersville and who became great leader in his profession and his private life.
Please accept our sincere sympathy.

I got to know Zack whilst we were on the same group climbing Mont Blanc in July 2009. As everyone on this guest book has testified, he was a hugely personable, bright and interesting guy - we enjoy many interesting conversations that week and kept in touch afterwards. I was looking forward to catching up in person and was hopeful of persuading him to do another mountaineering adventure in due course! My deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

I was a student of Zach's for Analysis 101, and the biggest thing I took from him was his enjoyment of teaching and how even though he was the instructor he was always curious about what all of us did in our own positions, he took an interest in everyone's backgrounds. He was a wonderful person and the IC lost a great mind, teacher, and friend.

I first met Zach as a young, bright 9th grade student in my computer class at Walkersville high School, where I also worked with his mom, Maggie. Zach stood out because each day, he sat quietly and smiled respectfully; full eye contact, front and center of a noisy, raucous group of fairly immature 9th graders. I later had the privelege of getting to know Zach better after meeting my husband, who was good friends with Zach's cousin Duffy. After hearing of his passing, my mind and others, like a collective consciousness, seemed to share the same image of Zack's kind, quiet, humble resolve, as though all of us understood collectively, he was an old soul. Until his passing, no one, other than a few close family members fully realized his accomplishments, nor understood the breadth of his character because in any encounter, he chose to purposely diminish these qualities in favor of learning and appreciating about other's. When I spoke to him at some family gatherings, he spent most of his time kindly asking about my life, rather than dwelling on himself. Zach, it seems to most of us was a curious explorer of mountains, space and the human spirit. He was a fully actualized being, gifted, caring, and selfless. He made a mark on our lives and will be so missed. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family.

Our deepest condolences to Zack's family and all who knew him. We knew him as a colleague and friend for far too short a time. A few years to enjoy his calm demeanor and friendliness, and be awed by his brilliance. We will miss him.

Heartfelt condolences to Maggie, Paul and their families at this sudden and tragic loss. Zach was such a special, fine young man and impressed us both with his wit, golf skills, worldliness and beautiful smile. The world has lost a very fine young gentleman of which there a too few among us today.

My condolences to Zach's family and close circle of friends that have been a second family. I knew Zach socially and as a stud golfer. There were always stories of all he could do but his kindness and humility showed the most. Such a tragic loss.

My deepest sympathy.
I had the honor and privilege of working with Zack Warfield for over 3 years at Omnis. He was one of the most accomplished, talented and personable of the colleagues I have worked with in my 40+ year career. He always had a smile. And if he didn't immediately know the answer to a query, he knew a path to the answer, and helped get there. His loss to Omnis and our Community is tremendous. We all feel it.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones,
Ray

Dear Maggi, Doug, Justin, Hannah, Paul, Cindy and Family
You have our deepest sympathy, I do not know the words to express my feelings for you, but know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. I want you to know that I always enjoyed seeing Zack and talking to him and his smile was infectious. He had an influence on our son Joe while he was on the golf team at WHS, Joe said that Zack was so supportive of him and Joe being three years younger, that made a lasting impression. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful person with us all. God Bless, George and Suanne Basford

In my husband's words- Zack had a childlike curiosity about everything alloyed with a scientific mind. He was a wonderful Godfather, a joy to us and our children, and my husband's cousin and good friend. He was and is a fine example and I frequently hear the sentiment echoed that he made us all want to be better.

I was so sad to hear the news about Zach today, although I only knew him for a short time it felt like I had known him for a lifetime. He was an amazing person and made an impression on many new analysts entering the IC. He was a role model for me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

To the family and friends of Zack, Please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss. I originally met Zack in Iraq as part of the Iraq Survey Group and he immediately stood out as a very bright, engaging person dedicated to our country, his organization, and our mission. Following that deployment, I was fortunate to stay in contact with him through Omnis, who I know also mourn his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with Zack, his family and friends.

My wife went to school with Zach at Notre Dame, and though I didn't spend much time with him, I couldn't help but see what a great guy he was. Funny, kind and fiercely caring of his friends. I consider myself lucky to have had the chance to meet him.

I was a student in the DNI Analysis 101 course that took place from 28 February-11 March 2011 and Zach was one of my instructors. He was a personable, likable guy who was very good at his job. When I was a little lost on one of the exercises because my background in the IC was different than that of the other students, I went to him and asked for help, and he without any hesitation or condescension took me under his wing and put me on the right path to ensure I could successfully participate in this class exercise. This helped make me feel more comfortable in an environment that may have otherwise been somewhat intimidating for me. His instruction, willingness to help, and kind personality were a significant part of what made this course a great experience for me. His passing is a tragic one, but I hope his friends and family can be comforted by stories like this one, that show that while he was here, he had an impact on the lives of many people, some of whom his friends and family don’t even know exist. My deepest condolences go out to them and they will be in my thoughts and prayers.
