HOLCOMB JAMES FREDRICK HOLCOMB The family and friends of LTC James F. Holcomb, USA (ret) are saddened by his passing on December 18, 2009 in Springfield, Virginia, following a long battle with Alzheimer''s disease. Beloved husband of Ann Holcomb for 60 years; father of five children, James F. Jr., Robert C., Dennis B., Mary L. Hadra and Patty E. Davis. He was born in Ohio on May 12, 1923, and was a graduate of the United States Military Academy in the proud Class of 1945. LTC Holcomb served his country as an infantry officer in three wars, earning a Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman''s Badge among other honors. He was active in Saint Ambrose Catholic Church as an usher until Alzheimer''s disease disabled him in 2006. He is survived by his wife, all five children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation services will be held at Demaine Funeral Home at 5308 Backlick Road in Springfield, Virginia on December 22nd at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried with full military honors in the cemetery at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York at 10:00 a.m. on December 28, 2009.

Jim was my dearest friend and I will mss him very much. We had been good buddies ever since we were cadets together in company E1 at West Point. Joan and I send our deepest sympathy to Anne and their wondeful family. May God bless you all with strength and graces.
