Dear Members of the Gigante Family,

My husband, David, and I had the great privilege of working with Colonel Gigante during the Cuban refugee crisis in 1980. We were happy that a man of such great integrity and compassion was helping to make the decisions that would ease not only the Cubans' transition into this country, but also that of the many Haitians who were flooding in at the time. We join you in your grief, but also in the shared wonderful memories of him. Sincerely, Susan and David Stafford
