CAROL KNAPSTEIN CARNAHAN  (Age 96)  
On Saturday, May 13, 2017, Carol Knapstein Carnahan, 96, died peacefully at her home in Silver Spring, MD after a short illness surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late David Knapstein and the late Robert Carnahan. She is survived by her six children, Carolann Cairns, John Knapstein, Nancy Goldberg (James Hoehn), Mary (Robert) Murphy, Thomas Knapstein, and Peter (Cookie) Knapstein; her three step-children, Judy (Jim) Connor, Robert (Carolyn) Carnahan, and Joan Hosmer; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley (Nathan) Finch, and brother, William (Lee) Hein, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Gregory Knapstein. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, (Valet Parking) 500 University Blvd., W, Silver Spring, MD on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Graveside service and interment at Arlington National Cemetery at later date.
