To the family of Ernie Stalder, I offer my deepest condolences. I am so very sorry for your loss. Ernie led a meeting that I attended twice a month at Fiscal Service. Ernie always had a positive attitude and was an absolute joy to work with! He was truly a very special person.

Ernie was a dedicated and passionate volunteer in the AAAS STEM Volunteer Program, which placed retired scientists and engineers into public schools in the DC region to bring the real world of STEM into the classroom. I run the program in Montgomery County and was fortunate enough have coordinated his volunteering activities for the past two years. Even though I only met him a few times times, I know he was extremely passionate about getting his students at William T. Page ES excited about STEM...he was looking forward to working with us again in the 2017-18 school year..... there's no question, I will miss his dedication to our program. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time.

I raced with Ernie for over 20 years. As in all areas of his life he had his own way of doing things that I always admired. He was one of the toughest and bravest drivers I've raced with. One of the fastest and scariest corners in all of racing is turn 10 at Summit Point. I followed him many times and he ALWAYS took it with the accelerator "flat" to the floor. It didn't always end well, but no other driver can say that.

What I remember most about Ernie was his tenacity and hard charger attitude. He'd ride into work on his bicycle... Sun, wind or rain. He'd go to the gym after work, everyday and would never take the elevator but walk up the stairs... and when he finally told me his age, I just laughed and said "Ernie you have set the standard for me to achieve at your age." Ernie was smart with a great wit, We'd laugh at many a subtle comment he'd make when trying to resolve problems at work. I will miss him dearly, but I take comfort in thinking of all times he made me laugh. My condolences to the Stalder family for your loss. To me, Ernie was and will always be a Great man and Good friend.

Your dad was a great guy and an awesome FV racer! We always enjoyed racing with him for many years while we were in the DC area. He was a determined, focused racer that always gave his best. He carried that over to the rest of his life and will be missed. Laura and Don Taylor, FV24, now in Illinois.

One of my favorite memories of Ernie has to be when I met him in Hyattsville a couple of years ago. He saw that I was wearing a Captain America T-shirt and he said, "I remember when my Dad was in the hospital in Chicago when I was a little kid. My mom saw that I was getting restless and went to the news stand downstairs and bought me a Captain America comic book." I said ," What year was that?" And he replied, "the early 40's..." I thought at first he was joking because there was no way he was in his eighties but that was Ernie full of boundless energy and whip smart. I will miss him.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time.
