I ran across a letter Mr. John Jay Daly wrote my mother in 1991 after reading an article in the Washington post of her grief following the tragic loss of my brother who was killed by a complete stranger. He didn't know her but he took the time to encourage her and for that I wanted to find and thank him. I was so saddened to learn that he passed in 2008 I believe. Just reading his letter was proof that there are some kind and very generous People in the world. So, to the family, please accept my condolences over the loss of Mr. Daly, And please know how grateful my family and I were to receive Mr. Daly's letter.

To all the Daly family, far and near,my loving thoughts and prayers are with you. John was enormously kind to me and my husband Bob in the nearly thirty years of our friendship. I'm sure he's cracking jokes with the heavenly host now.
Love and peace, Catherine

I knew John Daly for the better part of my 37 year in the direct marketing profession. What a pro, a fine gentleman, a family man who enjoyed tradition and family values. John, we all shall miss you very much. Rest in peace and may the Lord bless you in so many ways in your final resting place.
Your good friend,
Jim Aldige

Luanne and all --- John was a recent friend of mine. Am so sorry to get back into town [funeral service in Iceland for my mother in law] and find we missed his service, BUT I finally had chance to read his great website. You all have done a class act job here with the website and the notices. Congratulations to John a bit late and to all of you who are maintaining the site. He was a man to be proud of. How does it go: “We are sorry to have lost him, but we are pleased he graced us with his presence as long as he did…”. Leonard Pfeiffer

What a great loss for all of us. John played so many roles in our lives over these many years of friendship and fellowship. He will be remembered by all as a kind man of quick wit, principled and of unwavering loyalty and support to others. He leaves us with many happy memories and an indelible image of a smiling, happy man that truly loved life. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Daly's great sense of humor and bottomless well of wisdom about speaking, writing, family, and life in general were an inspiration to me growing up.

I can imagine Saint Peter shared some chuckles with John Jay at the gate. I also can see him with his wry grin, hands clasped on the Divine wrought iron asking St. Pete if he knows when baseball was first mentioned in the bible...God Bless your boisterous clan.

John's happy and generous soul was at last marked "Return to Sender".
He is quite well known at that address.
