HONAKER EUGENE A. HONAKER (Age 84) On Thursday, May 6, 2010, of Dunkirk, MD, formerly of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of the late Josephine B. Honaker; father of Renee (Tex) Meadows, Allen (Elizabeth) Honaker and Donna (Dan) Rice; grandfather of Vicki, Mike, Kim, James, Christine and Danny. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard, West, Silver Spring, MD, on Monday, May 10 from 10 to 11 a.m., where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. I still remember when Mr. Honaker spoke at my grandfather's funeral. I remember thinking my grandfather was so lucky to have such a wonderful and loving guy as a best friend. I know Poppy (E. Brown) and Mr. Honaker are enjoying some awesome fishing together right now! Thank you for being a part of our family... --The Browns

My prayers are with Donna and her family. Of course I remember Mr Honaker, he was a big part of my extended family, through Pop Brown and all the Boy Scouts. I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. I knew him at the Red Cross beginning in 1986 when I joined the First Aid Unit. He and Jo were such a fixture! They were very kind and always had time to talk with us. We have tried to keep that tradition up, even as the Unit left Red Cross for Boy Scouts. He was a really good, and special example of how to do it right!

Grandpa, I have been so blessed to have had a wonderful, loving, and caring Grandpa like you! I feel such as ease knowing that you are now with Grandma whom you've missed for so many years. I truly wish that Michael, the boys, and me could have been there in your last days, but I will treasure the days we were with you. I Love You Grandpa and miss you VERY much!

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Eugene (Pop as we affectionatly called him) He was quite a character a true American in every way. We shall be lifting all the family up in our prayers, and ask that The Lord of all Grace will comfort you in your loss.
May Eugene now enter into that peace which was prepared for him
