GENEVA BLYTHER "Neva"
Peacefully on Monday, November 15, 2010 of Washington, DC. Mother of Sharron, Germany, Tiana, the late Calvin Jr. and the late Joseph Blyther. Also survived by three sisters, Maggie, Annie and Christine; one brother, Robert Sr. 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by brother, Armanious. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 21, 5 to 8 p.m. at J.B. JENKINS FUNERAL HOME, 7474 Landover Rd. On Monday, November 22, viewing 10 a.m., service 11 a.m. at New Southern Rock Baptist Church, 750 Buchanan St., NW, Washington, DC.

Wow....it’s been 10 years and a day without your physical presence!! I am so glad your spirit comes and visit me to remind me that you are in a better place and watching over all of us!! Your lessons taught and memories given are forever in my heart and guiding me as I move forward in this thing called life!! Though, you may have not been given the quantity of days I would have wanted, though any amount of time would have been too short, you were given the quality of days that many can only dream of!!! You lived you life and impacted and touched so many others to do the same!!! All the time being a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, wife, cousin, and friend!!!! As I reflect on these times, I can still hear your voice & see your smiling face. .But in actuality, it's been 10 yrs, 10 hard,long years since you've ascended to the pearly gates... I'm stlll trying to figure things out, still at my age, in need of your wisdom support, advice & words of encouragement about everything. Geneva Blyther, My other Mother! It's hard to believe it's been NINE YEARS!!!! You are truly missed. We were so fortunate to have you for the time we did. It still pains my heart to know just as you and my Mom were developing your friendship you got sick and eventually received your wings. I know you are soaring all over the heavens making Angels laugh everyday. You left us with so many hilarious memories. You gave us laughter even when you were not trying to be funny. As you watch over your family, I know you see how much it has grown.... You now have two BEAUTIFUL Great Grand daughters and Great Grand Nephews.... You would be so proud. Sharron is still the super dedicated mom. Tiana is still growing and knocking the Professional Walls down all around her and and Germ is still the best and most sincere authentic person anyone can ever meet. All qualities and characteristics they received from you..... Last but certainly not least, Angel Annie has been holding it down by dedication herself to family first. She still here taking care of everyone and putting family first. All in all, just wanted you to know you are loved and missed deeply. Until we meet again. Keep Flying, Keep Soaring, Keep Watching. My mother transitioned in 11/2010 & needless to say, we all have been missing her...It's very hard, especially during the holidays because she brought so much joy & laughter to the family ... As I look back now, the very conversations my mom had with me, I'm having with my own children.. So I owe her a gratitude of Thanks!!! I'm so very blessed to have had two parents who knew how to make people smile & laugh even during the bad times...Thanks for all the memories & RIP "Neva"

Its been a while!! Yes, it has!! I think of you often, if not everyday!! Out of all of the true statements you made in your earthly life two stick in my mind when I think of you, "I am not here to stay, so you have to learn to be independent" and "You are going to miss me when I am gone". So, true!!! So, true and as these tears run down my face, I still would not turn the hands of time back and bring you back here!! For I know with all my heart where you are and who you are with. I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Ms. Geneva Blyther. Ms. Geneva was the mother of a good friend of mine, Tiana Blyther. I remember Ms. Geneva as being warm-hearted and having a good sense of humor. The one time I visited Washington, DC, not only was the Blyther family very hospitable, but my stay was pleasant and very memorable.

Though I will never get use to you not being here with me, I understand why you had to go away. God's will is something we all must accept. Though I wish you had much more time on Earth, I know the 60 years you did have were well lived. Ms. Geneva was a remarkable woman! She worked very hard and had fun too. I can see where my friend (Tiana) gets those attributes from. She always spoke what was on her mind, and what I like to call "keeping it real". And if you knew Ms. Geneva you know she loved going to Bingo lol. She is in a better place now, may her soul rest in peace.

Words can not express the sorrow I have for the loss of your mom/sister who was also my other mother. Neva, was a very special lady that spread joy and laughter to all who met her. She was extremely funny and there was never a dull moment when she was around. My mom and I share your grief however, we find comfort sharing the hilarious memories of her. Neva is surely missed.
