Karl and I were fortunate to know Ethel for many, many years. Karl worked with Ethel at the National Bureau of Standards in Washington DC.
Karl and I fondly remember a weekend with Ethel in Baja Mexico. Ethel, with her usual panache, was swimming in the hotel pool adjacent to the dining room and gave everyone an Esther Williams demonstration.
We will miss her.

Ethel was an inspirational figure of many dimensions. She led a gang of math grads to excellent work and lots of fun. It was an amazing experience to work with her. We all miss her leadership and charm.

Visiting Ethel's beautiful house overlooking the Potomac when I was a child kindled my interest in design. Her world travels opened my eyes to other cultures. She lived and worked ways that inspired others to explore. Thank you, Ethel!

Ethel was a beloved friend of mine. We worked together at the National Bureau of Standards for many years. She was Maid of Honor at my wedding in 1956. She was a grand and classy Lady.
