JOSEPH McNULTY Obituary

JOSEPH P. McNULTY
Joseph Paul McNulty, age 26, left this world for the fellowship of his Heavenly Savior on December 5, 2012, after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. Joe was the beloved son of Paul and Brenda McNulty of Fairfax Station, VA, and the treasured brother of Katy McNulty and brother-in-law Jonathan Hittinger of Brooklyn, NY, Anni McNulty of Columbia, SC, and Corrie McNulty, attending Grove City College in PA. He is also survived by his grandfather Kenneth Millican of Oldsmar, FL, and loving aunts, uncles and cousins. A graduate of Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA, and James Madison University ('09), Joe was a first year law student at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fairfax, VA, and attended First Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. From 2009 to 2012, Joe worked on the staff of Representative Frank Wolf (10th District of VA) as director of social media and deputy press secretary. Joe was known as a kind and caring person with a delightful sense of humor who was blessed with remarkable faith, courage and optimism in the hard providence of cancer. A natural athlete who enjoyed nearly all sports, Joe played varsity soccer at Robinson and was a member of the JMU club team. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Christian Church in Springfield, VA, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10.www.fmfh.com

Dear Paul:
I was so very sad to learn of your son's death. The loss you feel saddens everyone who knows and loves you. I pray that after healing time has passed, you'll feel the love you shared more than the loss. My deepest sympathy to you and Brenda and your family.

Joe will never be forgotten. He carried such a fun and positive attitude, that seemed to grow on you. I lived with Joe for 1 year at JMU but feel that I have known him for so much longer. A loyal friend who always looked out for you. Joe knew how to have a good time. His attitude on life was so positive. I am so thankful that I got to know Joe and become his friend. You will be missed brother, thank you for all the good times.

Joe was a great guy. I had the pleasure of playing soccer against him growing up, and with him at JMU. He was genuine and always put a smile on people's faces. I'll miss him as a friend and a teammate. Rest in peace Joe.

We are so fortunate to have known Joe. He was one of the happiest and funniest people I know, every memory I have of Joe is hilarious and just makes me laugh. I feel so blessed to have known Joe while at JMU and to play soccer with him on the club team. My time at JMU would never be the same without him. I always felt like our team was a family and it feels like I lost a brother. My thoughts and prayers go to him, his family, and our friends.

Miss you bro.

Joe was the liveliest guy around. Always upbeat and always smiling, he was always cracking jokes and entertaining those around him. It was a true pleasure to not only be a teammate of his, but also a friend. You will be missed, Joe. Rest in peace.

Joe, you will be missed. I'm thinking back to the memories with you at JMU, every one makes me smile and laugh. Joe played wide open on the soccer field and was the same way off the field, a great guy who I feel lucky to have known. RIP Joe!

Knowing Joe and playing soccer with him at JMU was definitely the best years of my life. His passion for the game and for life has always been inspiring to me. Rest in Peace Joe, and please know that you have made a huge impact in all of us from JMU Club soccer.

Remembering Joe's quick wit and personality vividly. Joe was always full of life even through this cancer. Philip Pierce , our son, counted him as one of his best buds from JMU. He will be missed. <3
