Ambassador RONALD D. PALMER  May 22, 1932 - April 21, 2014   
Ambassador Ronald D. Palmer, 81, was a diplomat, educator, lecturer and writer whose fierce intellect and joie de vivre will be greatly missed. In 1954, he graduated Howard University magna cum laude and Johns Hopkins. He was a Fulbright Scholar, US ambassador to Togo, Malaysia and Mauritius, a professor at West Point, CSIS and GWU, and created the first monument to the Underground Railroad in DC. Formerly married to Euna Scott and the princess Tengku Intan Bakar of Malaysia, he is survived by his children Derek and Alyson, son-in-law Anthony Salvatore, grandchildren Ruby and Anthony Lake Salvatore Palmer. Memorial service is Friday, June 6 at 3 p.m. at Howard University's Rankin Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rankin Chapel.
