My condolences to the John and the family. A summer flu prevents me from attending the memorial service but I am comforted with the knowledge that I was privileged to spend countless hours with her at the hospitals and hospice. I was a college classmate at Howard, a law school classmate at Harvard, lived at the same apartment building in Silver Spring, at her recommendation bought a house on her block on Girard Street, passed on to her my contact for her jobs at the law firm Morgan Lewis, and OMB, then went to OMB at her recommendation and finally both working for the federal courts our lives are forever connected. Her death is a benediction to a life of learning and accomplishment. She is resting in peace! Maurice White

Cecelia will be truly missed. She helped a lot of people at the AO with her brilliant smile and knowledge. When she was waiting in the emergency room in February and knew something was going on with me at work, she took the time to call and made sure I was okay. I will miss and cherish the time that I knew her. She will be greatly missed. Blessings from Carol Wigfall.

Cecelia was a beacon of light to everyone that had the pleasure of speaking with her. She was an encyclopedia of life and she will be missed abundantly. John, words can't express how sorry I was to hear of her passing. Her love for you, "the boy," and your family demonstrated the agape love that Christ has for us, His children. Ms. Cecelia, my friend and colleague, will be missed more than words can express. My prayers are with you and your family and may GOD'S love surround you all with His peace, comfort, and strength always.

Dear John and Family, So very sorry for your loss. I worked with your mother at the Administrative Office (AO). Cecelia headed all of the Heritage Programs that I had the privilege to attend. And through those programs, your mother enriched all of our lives with a proud history of America. Working in the Director's office for 20 plus years, afforded me an up-close and personal appreciation for her work. Her courageous fight is over and she is now dancing with the Lord. I will be forever grateful for her words of encouragement, wisdom and comfort. Cecelia, Rest In Peace

I will forever be indebted to Cecelia for the work she did in leading the legal team in DC Public Schools during my tenure as superintendent. To John and the family, please accept my heart felt sympathy.

Cecelia and I were in the Honors program at Howard University. I saw her at the funeral of Thurgood Marshall many years ago. Hers is a tragic loss but she fought a good fight.

What sad news!!! I met Cecelia iur first week at Howard University as freshmen living on the same floor in Wheatley Hall. Our paths have crossed many times over the years, including as members of Delra Sigma Theta. Each meeting was a pleasure as we passed along through families, careers and into senior citizens. My prayer is that her family, especially her son, will find some comfort in the kind words and memories of friends and colleagues. May she rest in peace.
