WILLIAM BELLER Obituary


WILLIAM STERN BELLER  (nee Hyman)  
On November 7, 2014, William Beller, a designer of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose," contributor to ocean island sustainability, best- selling writer, and a Golden Owl at the National Press Club passed away. Beller was a key contributor to the establishment of NASA, EPA, and NOAA. Survived by his wife of 59 years Joan Beller; daughters, Nancy Beller Simms (Howard), Diane Waschler (William) and Stacy Beller Stryer (late - Dan); grandchildren, David (Jennifer) and Dana Simms, Arianne, Benjamin and Kaela Waschler; Rachael and Rebecca Stryer; sister, Linda Childs (Leo); sister-in-law, Shelley; other loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by brother, Alexander Beller. Burial at King David Memorial Cemetery in Falls Church at Noon on November 28, 2014. After, a celebration of his life will be held at: 6523 Old Farm Ln. Rockville, MD. In lieu of flowers, consider an Environmental Defense Fund donation.

We will remember Bill as a wonderful friend, with a great sense of humor, Bill taught us to ask "how" and "why" everything works. Bill always investigated every detail of everthing thatt interested him. bill always greeted us with sincere "how are you?" And what are you doing to keep your time occupied?
