Angelina Dembowski Obituary

Dembowski, Angelina

Angelina "Angie" Dembowski, 86, Wausau died Saturday, January 4, 2014 under Interim Hospice Care at Lili Assisted Living, Schofield.

She was born, June 11, 1927 in Chicago, daughter of the late William and Santina Valle. On April 15, 1951 she married Eugene "Gene" Dembowski at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Chicago. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2007.

Survivors include her children, Gene (Amy Hardwicke) Dembowski, Galena, IL, Carol (Craig) Trinkl, Wausau, James (Sheila) Dembowski, Schofield and Mary (Jim) Cohen, Hawthorn Woods, IL, five grandchildren, Vanessa and Stefanie Trinkl, Emma and Sam Cohen and Michael Dembowski. Angie is also survived by her brother-in-law George Sacheck and many nieces and nephews and their families whom she dearly loved.

Angie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a dear friend to many. She was a talented seamstress and graduated from the Vogue School of Fashion Art in 1947 in Chicago. She sewed wedding gowns for family and friends and in later years taught her granddaughters how to sew and embroider. She also worked for many years for the Chicago School Board in food service. Angie was a wonderful cook and generations of family still remember her delicious Italian roast beef, homemade spaghetti sauce, candied sweet potatoes at Easter and her lemon slices to name a few favorites.

Gene and Angie were married for 56 years and there are many happy memories of their lives together raising their children in Chicago and later years spending time together in the home Gene built in Wausau. Angie and Gene shared a love of gardening and looked forward every summer to their annual vacation on Lake Noquebay in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Angie is also survived by life-long friends Chris and Reg Roger, Yvonne Haeble and Diane Snook and other friends she made in Wausau during her retirement years.

Angie had a deep Faith and enjoyed attending Mass at the Church of the Resurrection and her rosary was never far from her side. She also had a caring personality and many a relative or friend found comfort after chatting with Angie…she always knew the right words to say to make someone feel better.

The family would like to thank all the relatives and friends and neighbors who sent cards, came to visit Angie or called to see how she was doing during the past year….your kindness was most appreciated and will always be remembered. The family would also like to thank the staff at Lili Assisted Living and Interim Hospice staff for the kindness and care they gave to Angie during her time under their care and special thanks to Dr. Frank Rubino and nurse Mary Jo who gave Angie wonderful care for almost 30 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. The Rev. Timothy Welles will preside. Angie was in a class I taught at the Health Care Center (Body Recall). She was an absolute delight to chat with; and was always, always, so positive in every way. I admired her. She will be in my prayers. My condolences to her entire family.
