Shirley Palesh Obituary

Palesh, Shirley E.

Shirley E. Palesh, 87, Wausau, died March 1, 2017 at her residence.

Shirley was born in 1929 in Chicago to the late Joseph and Ella (Laffin) Palesh. She was employed at the Banta Corporation in Menasha, from which she retired in 1992.

Shirley was an avid sports fan. Her greatest interests were listening to the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks. She was a life long member of the All American Girls Baseball Association. She played right field for the Racine Bells and the Rockford Peaches in the 1950's. Throughout her retirement years she received many requests from people in the United States and other countries asking for an autographed baseball card.

Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau, and assisted in some church functions over the years. She enjoyed attending family and friend events, helping in whatever way possible.

Shirley is survived by two brothers, Donald Palesh of Wausau, and Gerald (Ursula) Palesh of Woodbury, Minnesota. She is also survived by one sister, Muriel (Robert) Prahl of Weston; and extended neices and nephews. She is preceded in death by a sister, Elaine Czeck; a brother-in-law, Leonard Czeck; a sister-in-law, Rosie Palesh; and a nephew Michael Palesh.

No services will be held. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will take place at a later date at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetary.

I will always remember Shirley's amazing stories of her baseball years and will miss discussing the packers with her...for the short time I knew her she became my favorite tenant at the landmark building and will be missed so much. I'm so sorry for your loss
