Hoesly, Donald J.

Donald J. Hoesly, 84, Edgar, died on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the tender care of Aspirus Hospice services.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford with Rev. Sue Eidahl officiating. Burial will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery located on State Highway 153 where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 393 of Edgar. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time, all at Zion Lutheran Church. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Donald was born on March 3, 1930 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Arthur and Esther (Vergenz) Hoesly and attended schools there until 1947 when they moved to Edgar (Town of Frankfort). He was a 1948 graduate of Abbotsford High School and farmed with his parents in the Town of Frankfort. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany from 1952 until 1954. He was united in marriage to Eileen M. Winistorfer on October 24, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford. In 1970 he became employed for Northern Star which later became Stratford Homes until 1982. He then was employed for the Edgar School District as head custodian until his retirement in 2000. He then drove school bus for Fischer Transportation for 7 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and researching cars of which he had a vast knowledge. Don was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing roses and gladiolas. Don also enjoyed socializing with his many friends. Don was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 393 of Edgar.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen and their children, Loralee (Jim) Mondl of St. Louis, Terry (Tammy) Hoesly, and Tammy (Terry) Freese, all of Edgar. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Brooke, Alexander, Alayna, Nicholas, Daria, Cameron and Malia. He is further survived by 2 sisters, Jacqueline of New Hampshire and Arlene of Texas.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorials may be designated in his name to Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford.
