Judy Matthias

Judy Ann (Hartmann) Matthias, 69, of Waterloo, formerly of Plainfield, died Friday, Oct. 8, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo from an apparent heart attack.
Judy was born on Aug. 26, 1941, in Waterloo, the daughter of William and Barbara (Minkler) Volbruck. She attended school in Waterloo, but did not finish. She received her GED on June 6, 1998.
She was married in 1959, to Theodore Meyer, later divorced; she then married Dennis Hartmann in 1973, later divorced. On Aug. 2, 1982, she was united in marriage to Victor S. Matthias. The couple made their home in Waterloo until July of 1986, when they moved to Plainfield.
During her life, Judy worked for Kmart in Waterloo, Coastal Mart in Waverly, and at Hy-Vee in Waverly.
Judy is survived by her four children; son Patrick Hartmann of Waterloo, son Page (Susan Miller) Hartmann of La Crosse, Wis., daughter Peggy Hartmann of Waterloo, and son-Ron Foote of Des Moines; her four stepchildren, Jeff (Kathy) Matthias, Kim (Randy) See, Valarie (Randy) Hinkle, Sheila Matthias; three grandchildren; Hiram Tuft of NC, Kara Graham of Nashua, and Terrence Hartmann of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Susan (Robert) Ferrie of Plainfield; a brother, Glenn (Lorene) Johnson of Nashua; two sisters-in-law, Linda Johnson of Nashua and Linda Johnson of Bremer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vic in 1997; a daughter, Paula Tuft in 1994; and two brothers, Frank and Eugene Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Nate Frazee officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock. Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 11, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
