Lawrence Sparks Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" A. Sparks, 75, of 2224 Adams, died on Wednesday (May 4, 2011) in his home.
He was born on March 12, 1936, in Beverly Township, a son of John and Sylvia Diehl Sparks. He married Judith "Judy" Laird on Oct. 1, 1960, in Grace United Methodist Church. She survives.
Larry served in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for GH Bemis/Sisbro for 34 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church. Larry loved to play solitaire. He liked going to the casino with his friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grand-children.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is also survived by three children, Gregory Sparks and his wife, Karen, of Pleasant Plains, Randall Sparks and his wife, Stacie, of Quincy, and Laura Hampsmire and her husband, Gary, of Fowler; grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Sparks of Pleasant Plains; an aunt, Veta Laird of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vernon, Dale, Kenneth and Robert Sparks; and two sisters, Iola Bader and Della Sparks.
SERVICES: 1 p.m. Monday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Morwell conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4-8 p.m. today in the home.
MEMORIALS: Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Union United Methodist Church.
ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
