Doris Imogene Huseman

Doris Imogene "Gene" Huseman, 92, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 638 Washington, Quincy, died at 12 p.m. Friday (June 3, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

Born Aug. 18, 1918 in Ethel, Mo., Gene was the daughter of Omer and Winifred Edwards Lile. She married Arthur J. "Bump" Huseman on Aug. 4, 1941 in Macon, Mo., and celebrated 69 years of marriage until his passing on Sept. 19, 2010.

Gene was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the St. Mary Nurses Alumni. She enjoyed embroidering and reading and loved to dance to Big Band music and travel with her husband.

A graduate of Ethel High School and St. Mary School of Nursing in 1940, Gene was employed as an R.N. in the St. Mary Hospital Maternity Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Reutenauer and her husband, Chuck, of Hannibal, Mo. and Susan Neisen and her husband, Kenny, of Fowler; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Hess and his wife, Ceann, of Hannibal, Andrea Zak and her husband, David, of Wentzville, Debra Matchuny of Springfield, Angela Loos and her husband, Jim, of Liberty, Kenny Neisen of Camp Point, Adam Neisen and his wife, Jolinn, of Fowler and Therese Neisen of Quincy; two step grandchildren, Charles A. Reutenauer II and his wife, Denisa, of Hannibal, Sarah Powell and her husband, Chris, of Hannibal; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Huseman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Dorothy Dean Meyer and an infant sister, Bonnie Belle Lile.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity United Church of Christ by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: From 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services, at the church.

SERVICES: Trinity United Church of Christ or Good Samaritan Home.
