Mildred Wachenheim Obituary

Mildred Maxine Wachenheim, 87, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2512 Lind, Quincy, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday (May 13, 2011) in Good

Samaritan Home.

Born Dec. 19, 1923, near Buckhorn, Maxine was a daughter of Glenn and Iva Icenogle Alcorn. She married Lawrence E. Wachenheim on Sept. 23, 1945, at the Salem Church parsonage in Quincy. He died Aug. 17, 2010.

Maxine was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for more than 35 years, having held all chapter offices and serving as a member on many committees. She typed the bulletin and newsletter for about four years. She was also a member of Grace Whipple Chapter No. 312 Order of Eastern Star and the Antique Club of Quincy. She enjoyed reading, gardening and doing genealogy.

A graduate of Mount Sterling High School and Gem City Business College, Maxine was employed as a stenographer at Electric Wheel and at Manpower Inc. She later was a secretary for Doane Agricultural Service for 10 years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Bruce Wachenheim of Romeoville,

and Dr. Daniel E. Wachenheim of Vancouver, Wash.; two nieces; and a nephew.

Mrs. Wachenheim was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two

sisters in infancy.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Chaplain James Riley. Burial will

be in Woodland Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Grace Whipple Chapter 312 OES will

conduct Star services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Quincy Public Library Building Fund.

ARRANGEMENTS: Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, Quincy.
