Betty Bevill Obituary

PHILADELPHIA, MO. ­-- Mrs. Betty Jane Bevill, 82, formerly of Philadelphia and Quincy, Ill., died Wednesday (Oct. 20, 2010), in the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, Mo.

Betty was born May 21, 1928, in Palmyra, Mo., to Edward Arthur "Boy" and Annie Lee Roach Fagan. Betty was married to Clemont J. Bevill July 4, 1945, in Philadelphia, Mo., and had celebrated 65 wonderful years together. He survives.

She was a graduate of Philadelphia High School in 1945. Betty had worked for many years as a consultant and fashion show director for Sarah Coventry Co. and for seven years in a row attained their highest honor through their national million dollar weeks contest. She had formerly sold Avon as a product sales representative.

Betty was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She treasured the Christmas holiday season spending time with family and friends. Also, she loved to travel with her husband, not only with their mobile home, but also taking 34 cruises. She cherished spending time at their vacation home in Arizona and later their condo at the Landing. She was a lifelong member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Sheryl Stratton of Osage Beach, Mo.; sons, Eddy Bevill and wife, Loretta, of Philadelphia, Mo., and Lee Bevill of Hopkinsville, Ky.; grandchildren, Breck Stratton of Springfield, Mo., Kendelle Seidner of Jefferson City, Mo., Camelia Bevill and Carrie Mae Bevill of Philadelphia, Amanda (Chuck) Woodward of Griggsville, Ill., Israel Bevill of Philadelphia; Heidi Frazier of Grain Valley, Mo., and Jonathan Dean Bevill of Fort Bliss, Texas; stepgrand-daughter, Sarah Wells Scott of Marthasville, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Alexys Stratton, Hannibal, Bella Seidner, Jefferson City, Hailey Seidner and Cole Seidner, Jefferson City, Thad Neisen, Olathe, Kan., Austin Bevill, Megan Smith and Mackenzie Smith, Philadelphia, Peyton Woodward and Garrett Woodward, Griggsville, Alana Sue Frazier, Grain Valley, Mo.; stepgreat-grandchildren, Nick Koffman and Katherine Miller, Philadelphia, and Ella Scott and Jack Scott, Marthasville, Mo.; and nieces, Nancy Reese, Wentzville, Mo., Sue Grohe, Des Moines, Iowa, and Pat Fagan, Columbia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Herbert, Tom and Card Fagan.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Saturday in Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Roger Stevens, Henry Pratt, Kevin Scott, and Millie Reed conducting. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery, Philadelphia, Mo. Casket bearers are Chris Seidner, Chuck Woodward, Thad Neisen, Randy Crabill, Matt Crabill, C.W. Smith, Isreal Bevill and Jonathan Bevill. Honorary bearers are Ron Kestner, Jim Chostner, Martin Hultz, Glenn Bridgman, Jim Drebenstedt, Clem Goodin, Ray Jarman, and Rouse Jarman.

VISITATION: 5-8 tonight in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. There will also be another visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in Philadelphia Baptist Church.

MEMORIALS: Alzheimer's Association.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Sheryl, Lee and Eddy, Just heard today of the passing of Betty, your mother. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have been thinking about her and Clemont lately. Please know you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers. She was a wonderful lady and I enjoyed working for her. She will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss she was a special person. She and I got to know each other at St.Mary's hospital. I later cleaned you house for a few years.
