KAHOKA, Mo. -- Dale Eugene Meinhardt, 82, of Kahoka, died at 1:55 a.m. Tuesday (May 3, 2011) in the Clark County Nursing Home, Kahoka.
A son of Otto George and Mary May Barton Meinhardt, he was born on Feb. 5, 1929, in Luray. He married Joyce E. Hanan on Feb. 22, 1953, in the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka.
Dale was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He served as president of the Clark County Fire Corp. when it was first organized. He was a Kahoka Kiwanis Club past president, served on the Ashton School Board of Directors and was on the Lewis County R.E.C. Board for 17 years. He was a Ashton Clover Leaf leader and was a member of the Fox Valley Two Cylinder Club. As a hobby, he liked to collect toy tractors and restore pedal tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Meinhardt of Kahoka; four children, Michael D. Meinhardt and his wife, Joyce, of Lansing, Kan., Debra R. Bevans and her husband, Kent, of Monticello, Judith I. Rojo and her husband, Richard, of The Colony, Texas, and Russell E. Meinhardt and his wife, Jill, of Overland Park, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Adam (Kate) Bevans, Andrew Meinhardt, Brandon Rojo, Matthew Meinhardt, Samantha (Mike) Allen, Kelsey Bevans, Marissa Rojo, Danielle Meinhardt and Tessa Meinhardt; two great-grandchildren, Mia Frazier Bevans and Owen Joseph Frese; a sister, Thelma Gaffney and her husband, Norris, of Memphis; two brothers, Wayne Meinhardt and his wife, Mertice, of Luray, and Deane Meinhardt and his wife, Rovene, of Kahoka; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilma Galbraith; a brother, George Meinhardt; and a sister-in-law, Lurla Meinhardt.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Kahoka, with the Rev. Kenneth Beckmann and the Rev. Beryl Cragg conducting. Burial will be in Keokuk (Iowa) National Cemetery, with graveside military honors.
VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
MEMORIALS: Blessing Cancer Center or Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
