Hilda JACOBS Obituary

HAMILTON, Ill. -- Hilda May Jacobs, 94, of Hamilton, died at 5:35 p.m. Thursday (May 19, 2011) in the Heritage House, Carthage.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1916, near West Point, a daughter of Albert and Christina Klingler Harms. She married Arthur Jacobs on Jan. 27, 1937, in Bethany United Church of Christ Parsonage, Tioga. He died Jan. 11, 2011.

Hilda attended grade school in Oak Forest and Mendon High School. She worked at Davis Cleaver, Quincy, and later worked in the kitchen at Montebello Healthcare Center, Hamilton, until her retirement. She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Sutter, where she belonged to the quilting group. She enjoyed quilting, growing flowers and gardening in her earlier years.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Billy) Donavon of Denver, Colo. and Phyllis (Charles) Meyer of Worden; one son, Gary (Carla) Jacobs of West Point; five grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Brunenn of Hamilton, Angela (Ted) Knorr of Bowen, Allen (Kim) Meyer of Staunton, Glenn (Janine) Meyer of Staunton, and Brian Meyer of Worden; 10 great-grandchildren, Brady Moore, Michael, Elijah, Kendall, Luke and Jillian Meyer, Ryan and Lucas Brunenn, and Kelsey and Jacob Knorr; and a sister-in-law, Erma Harms of Quincy.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five brothers, Carl and his first wife, Marie, and second wife, Leona, Paul and his wife, Marie, Ralph and his wife, Virginia, Clarence, and Walter and his wife, Pauline.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Monday in Bethlehem United Church of Christ with Pastor Roy Paterik conducting. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Sutter.

VISITATION: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday in the church.

MEMORIALS: Bethlehem United Church of Christ.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home, Hamilton.
