Norman Wilson Obituary

TAYLOR, Mo. -- Norman James Wilson, 85, of Taylor, died Wednesday (Sept. 4, 2013) at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Norman was born May 27, 1928, in Adams County, Ill., a son of Paul Henry and Margaret Edith Brown Wilson. Norman was married to Mary Matthews June 3, 1947, in Quincy. She survives of the home.

Norman attended schools in Quincy and Loraine and was a World War II United States Navy veteran.

Mr. Wilson was a Marion County farmer. He had formerly worked as a plumber, an artisan serving in Illinois and Missouri.

Norman had a great love for the outdoors, farming, and John Deere Implements. His favorite past time was watching his grandchildren's sporting events and spending precious time with them.

He was a member of the former Grace United Methodist Church in Quincy.

Survivors also include a daughter, Sharon K. (Jerry) Nelson of Peoria, Ariz.; a son, Monte Wilson and fiancee Rayleen Platter of Taylor; grandchildren, Justin (Arika) Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va; Joshua (Dena) Wilson of Palmyra, Tish (Deedar) Thawer of Peoria, Ariz., Jennifer Moore of Peoria, Megan Wilson of Memphis, Tenn., and Jordan (Michael) Bergman of Quincy; great-grandchildren, Dallas, Dawlton, Duncan, Madison, Syra, Lydia, Noah, Kylie, Cole, Dylan, Samantha, Daniel, Destry, and Koy and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Wilson Jr. and Marvin Wilson.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra with the Rev. Kent Heimer conducting. Burial with military honors will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Taylor.

VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.

MEMORIALS: American Heart Association or Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

ARRANGEMENTS: Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.
