Haven L. Breslaw

Obituary Condolences

Haven L. Breslaw of Brookline, MA, passed away on May 28, 2012, at the age of 71. He was the beloved husband of Anita (Sanford), the devoted father of Melanie Cala Dennis and her husband Greg, and Amy Sara Nacht and her husband Jacob. He was the dear brother of Lynne Farber, and Cathy Breslaw and her husband Paul Cohen. He was the cherished grandfather of Caleb, Ari, Anya, and Elijah. Haven was born in Albany, NY, in 1941 to William and Miriam Breslaw. He studied at Purdue University, graduating from Boston University in 1962. He was a man who loved deeply, gave freely, and felt committed to the lives of those surrounding him. For many years he volunteered with Jewish Big Brother/Big Sister Association in Miami and Boston, being awarded Big Brother of the Year in 1990 and 1999. In recent years, he volunteered at the Minot Rose Garden. He held a deep affection for Lake George, carrying on a family tradition which began in the 1930s, and enjoyed camping on the islands, especially those in the Mother Bunch. He recorded his life with photos and pursued travel to areas of the world that were serene and filled with flowers. He was a man of integrity and honesty and was admired by his colleagues throughout his career. His gentle presence and warmhearted soul will be missed by all of those he touched. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Jewish Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Boston, 333 Nahanton Street, Newton, MA 02459.
