Betsy Fahey Obituary

Betsy C. Fahey, 70, of Newtonville, MA died suddenly on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, after a massive brain hemorrhage on June 12th.Born in Syracuse, NY, she was raised in New Haven, CT, and lived for many years in Wayland, MA, until settling in Newton 15 years ago. Married to Dan Fahey for the past 15 years "the most wonderful years of her (and his) life." She is also survived by her sons, Dan Greenstein of Wayland and Mike Greenstein of Boston, and her stepdaughter, Lia Fahey of Newton, as well as by her sister, Jill and husband Art Glazer of Mt. Kisco, NY, and their 3 children, Steve, Mark and Laura (Holmes). Betsy worked for 45 years as a physical therapist, a dream she had since 12 years old, most recently at Partners Home Care. She took her passion for helping others with physical ailments one huge step further by ensuring her treatment considered all factors of the person, well beyond just the physical. Many clients subsequently became fast friends. Her approach to her clients was observed in spades by her friends, of which she had many. Contributions gratefully directed to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, at www.christopherreeve.org for which she was particularly interested in hoping for progress with spinal cord injuries. Funeral services will be private. For online guestbook please visit www.burkefamilyfuneralhomes.com

Our time we spent with Dan and Betsy was fun and memorable. They will both be remembered as loving and laughing a lot! It was great they found each other at that time of their lives.

I think of Betsy so often. I now have twin grandchildren who live in Newton, not far from Dan’s 1st Newton house on Ward Street. Betsy was a joy to know. I wish she was here to talk to. We would have a lot to share about our feelings during Covid.

My condolences are with the Fahey family. The sudden loss of Betsy who has touched so many lives will take some time to deal with, but until then, "May the Lord or peace Himself give you peace constantly in every way." (2Thessalonians 3:16) and may memories of Betsy sustain you during your time of grief.

Dan,

We are very saddened to hear about Betsy. Even though we only met a short while ago, it was clear to us that she was a special person. We will remember her lovely smile and her engaging personality. May your happy memories of time spent with Betsy guide you through this difficult time.

Dear Dan,

We are all very sad to learn about Betsy's passing, but somewhere we know she is with you every minute of the day. She was a special woman, and you both were given second chances of love and marriage. That is something to hold on to. Love, Abbe, David and Marcia Smerling

Dear Dan,

I don't think I ever met Betsy, but all the accounts here and in the paper point to a talented and remarkable woman. I'm very sorry for your loss. Please know that you have many friends in this City, even those that don't always agree with you. Best wishes in what I know is a very sad and difficult time.
