Steven D Ramsey

1946 - 2011

Steven D. Ramsey passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2011, at the age of 64, with his family by his side.
Steve was born on June 26, 1946, in Willits to Darold Ramsey and Marion Mannonen (Ford). Born and raised in Willits, he spent most of his childhood years growing up at his family ranch at String Creek, where he had his fondest memories.

After graduating from Willits High School, he joined the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War in Company A, 52nd Engineer Battalion, Fifth Army as a servicing equipment specialist.

Steve enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and telling stories, but most of all he enjoyed being a grandpa. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family, but will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his son, Mike Ramsey (Samantha) of Willits, and daughter Rachelle Cryer of Red Bluff; five grandchildren: Briana and Cody Ramsey of Willits, Justin and Ashley Cryer, and Cassie Eiler of Red Bluff; by brothers Ron Arms (Donna) of Willits, and Walter Mannonen (Susan) of Fort Bragg; by sisters Rae Lynn Anderson of Fort Bragg and Jenny Vaile (Virginia Mannonen) of Humboldt County; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darold Ramsey, mother Marion Mannonen (Ford), and grandparents Ted and Naomi Ford.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Willits Cemetery on Highway 20. A celebration of his life and potluck will follow at the Recreation
