Lester McGuffey Obituary

He was a decorated WWII Veteran and active in the local American Legion Chapter. He worked for many years in sawmills across Northern California, eventually working his way up to sawyer. He referred to his days at The Wolf Creek Lumber Co. on the Lost Coast as the happiest in his life.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorrain, whom he was married to for 62 years. He is survived by his son: William McGuffey; grandchildren: Shawna and Michael McGuffey, and by a vast number of extended family members and friends.

There will be a celebration of life gathering at his home, 399 Mill St., on Friday, July 29th on what would have been his 92nd birthday. It will be held in the backyard where he spent much of his time and it will begin at 5p.m. All who knew him are welcome to come and share their memories.

I knew Lester and Lorrain from their Wolf Creek days and lived near them in Willits, so they both were an integral part of my life. My condolenses to their family.

I remember many days of my childhood spent at the McGuffey home with Lester and Lorrain and their grandchildren, Shawna and Michael. Playing croquet in the back yard, painting sand dollars, baking cookies. Lester always had a smile on his face as he rode his bike around town. I will never forget him. My condolences to his family and friends.
