PERCIVAL, Alice Luise
Alice Luise Percival (née Springsteen) left to dance with her beloved husband Walter the evening of November 16, 2016, four days before her 93rd birthday. She leaves to celebrate her life her daughters Marlee Robinson, Judith Newby (Tom) the late Wendy Walsh, grandchildren Scott Robinson, Catherine Wassmansdorf (Gregg), Philip Walsh (Faye), Douglas Walsh and Chuck Walsh (Natalie) plus great-grandchildren Daniel and Emily Wassmansdorf and Vivian and Isla Walsh. Alice was born in Windsor on November 20, 1923. On November 20, 1943 she married her only love.. Alice was active in many charities including United Community Services, May Court Club of Windsor, O.D.E. Hospital and the Willistead Art Gallery (now the Art Gallery of Windsor) and St Mary's Church Walkerville Church Guild. Alice was a world traveller, an active and gifted gardener and enthusiastic party giver. Alice ran House of Travel for many years, became President of the Ontario Travel Association and taught travel at St. Clair College. She leaves us with her profound belief in the value and strength of family, encouragement to pursue our dreams, and a practice of living kindly and gratefully every day. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Church in Morpeth on Monday November 21 at 1:30 with a reception to follow at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown at 3:00 p.m. Friends may consider a contribution to the Trillium Gift of Life Network (http://www.giftoflife.on.ca/ www.giftoflife.on.ca), the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent Elephant Aid International or United Way of Chatham-Kent. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care of The Village on the Ridge staff and supporting PSWs arranged by CCAC.

I had the honour of meeting Mrs."P" during the 1960's when I was dating her daughter Wendy. Many good times were spent at the Percival's lovely home on Kildare Ave.- especially around the pool in the summer. I remember clearly one day when Alice taught me a lesson that has stayed with me to this day. She complemented me on a shirt I was wearing and I think I mumbled "Oh" or something equally useless. Right away Alice stopped me in my tracks and said: "John, when someone gives you a complement acknowledge it; look them in the eye and say Thank You".
