I remember meeting Jerry for the first time way back in the early 70's upon visiting my folks who were having a party in the neighborhood of New Meadowbrook in Clemmons. I was in college in San Diego at the time and what I remember while visiting Clemmons for the first time was Jerry wearing this very wild Univ of Arkansas Razorback hat and having a great time with his wife Marieanne and his Clemmons friends that night. Marieanne had a wild hat on too! A very nice man who I got to know more while he was County Commissioner, the western YMCA, Holy Family, all-around Clemmons and at LA Reynolds. My condolences to the Long family. Jerry was a great man.

Mr. Long was a fine man. I worked with him 25+ years ago at RJRT and I respected and admired him very much. He always made me feel like a real person instead of simply one of the multitude. The world was a much better place for having him in it. I am thankful to have known him.
