MONTGOMERY ARARAT, VA Folger Lee Montgomery August 7, 1927 - April 22, 2013 Mr. Folger Lee Montgomery age 85 of 4589 Ararat Hwy. Ararat, Va. passed away Monday April 22, 2013 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Montgomery was born August 7, 1927 in Patrick County to the late Hie Maddison and Sally Barnard Montgomery. He was retired from Sara Lee Hosiery Mill after 40 years of service, was a lifelong member of the Ararat, Vol. Fire Department in Ararat, VA., and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 39 Years and was the Sunday School Superintendent. Surviving are his wife of 63 years Gertrude Marshall Montgomery of the home, one son and daughter-in-law Doyle and Kendra Montgomery of Cana, two grandchildren Shawn and Chenoa Montgomery of Fancy Gap and Patricia Melton of Cana, four great grandchildren Jacob Melton, Gabriel Melton, Thomas Montgomery and Alexis Montgomery three sisters and brother-in-law Dorothy Noah, of Ararat, VA., Ruby Mankins of Ararat, VA. and special sister and caretaker Maxine and Haywood King of Ararat, VA, six brothers and sisters-in-law Floyd and Helen Montgomery, Roosevelt Montgomery and Winfred Montgomery all of Ararat, VA., Franklin Montgomery of Newark, DE., Acie Montgomery of Vandergrift, PA and Barnard and Love Montgomery of Hillsville, a special brother-in-law Bobby and Sylvia Harold of Mt. Airy. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Doe Run Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Terry Vaughn with burial to follow in the church cemetery with full military rites conducted by The Patrick County VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday night 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
