Paul Soots

SOOTS RONDA - Paul Soots May 28, 1922 - May 22, 2011 Paul Soots, age 88, of Ronda passed away May 22, 2011 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wilkes County on May 28, 1922 to the late Charlie and Lessie Harris Soots. Mr. Soots was the oldest member of Oak Level Baptist Church and served as Deacon for 50 years. He was also one of the Charter Members of the Ronda Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Soots proudly served his country and was a decorated veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Soots and Ralph Soots; two sisters Maxine Roberts and Tilda Holbrook; and a granddaughter Tammy Swaim Groce. Mr. Soots is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Hallie Barker Soots; three children, Peggy Swaim & husband Eddie of Ronda, Mark Soots & wife Bridget of Mt. Airy, Matthew Soots & wife Maria of Ronda; two brothers Joe Henry Soots & wife Edna of Ronda, Max Soots & wife Rose of Ronda; three sisters Annie Johnson Ike of Ronda, Ruby Minton of Ronda, Grace Barker of Ronda; five grandchildren, Sherry Swaim, Cody Soots, Ryan Soots, Corbin Soots, Caiden Soots; five great grandchildren, Lynda Swaim, Emily Wood, Garrett Swaim, Mary Burchette, Joseph Burchette; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at Oak Level Baptist Church in Roaring River officiated by Rev. Garwood Caudill and Rev. James Hall with burial following at Ronda City Cemetery with full military honors presented by Yadkin VFW Post #10346. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.johnson-funeral.com.
