George and Arthur-I am so sad to hear of Petes passing. I was pleased to meet Pete over 40 years ago when I used to come to Recreational Billiards (We all called it Pete's Place) to place arcade games. I remained friends with Pete all those years. He watched me grow into a man. He saw me as a high school student, as a collage student, as a soldier and as a grown businessman. Through all those years, Pete remained the same, soft spoken man that we all grew to love. I loved talking with him about the "good old days" and will miss his timely insight on the events of the day. I will miss you so much Pete and I will never forget you.

George and Arthur,
Sorry to hear about Pete's passing. He was a special person and a true patriot. I stopped by one time a few years ago after I retired from the Police Department in 1997. An evening shift wasn't complete until I would go in his business and set for a few minutes, usually near the end of my shift. He was a pleasure to be around.

Pete was an amazing man and a true representative of Winston-Salem hospitality. I always enjoyed talking to him each and every time I walked into Recreation Billiards. Most people his age (and many years younger) were in bed while he was still socializing with customers and still working. His legacy as a war hero and an entrepreneur can give inspiration to many who hope for the American dream. I will truly miss him, as will several of my friends from various places out of town who only knew the best bar in Winston-Salem as Recreation Billiards. They all had to meet Pete, because that is how I wanted them to remember our town. I would like to give my condolences to all of the family, and please know that he has been one of the few people, in any business, that made people feel like part of his family.

Pete was an endearing mild mannered man indeed! I can still remember him from the Picadilly days as well as an occasional visit to recreation Billiards. Pete will be remembered as an Institution in this city. May he rest in Peace and my sincerest consolation to the family.
