Hazel Hansen Obituary

Hazel Hansen, 73, of 8138 Deer Road, Town of Grant, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas Graves will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Town of Grand Rapids.

Hazel was born in the town of Pine Grove, Portage County, on May 28, 1938, to Floyd and Ruby (Campbell) Ostrander. She attended Plainfield Tri County School. Hazel married Larry Hansen on Dec. 17, 1955, in Plainfield.

She was employed by Preway from 1966 to 1983 and Ore Ida from 1989 until her retirement in 2005.

Hazel was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in the Rebekah Circle, with social concerns and on the funeral committee. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, snowmobiling and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved to give of her time helping others.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Allen (Peggy) Hansen and Scott (Beth) Hansen, all of Wisconsin Rapids, Peg (Jeff) Spaulding of Amherst and Todd (Deb) Hansen of Wisconsin Rapids; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Smith of Hebron, Ill.; and one brother, Delbert (Amy) Ostrander of Wisconsin Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Garry; siblings, Mary Jane Krah, Clifford, Robert Sr., and Jerry Ostrander; father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Edith Hansen; and brother-in-law, Phil Hansen.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home; and from 10 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Olson and Ministry Home Care Hospice for the special care given to Hazel.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Hazel. She brought a lot of comfort to me when I lost my mother in 2005. She was a treasured friend, and will be deeply missed. God bless your family through this difficult time.
