Swendrowski, Joseph E.

Joseph E. Swendrowski, age 92, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday October 6, 2016 at the Retirement Community of Nekoosa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday October 13, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites provided by Wisconsin Rapids American Legion Post #9. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Joseph was born December 8, 1923 in Milwaukee to Anton and Constance (Pinkowski) Swendrowski. He married Helen Mikolaiczyk on August 2, 1947 in Racine. Joseph served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed by Jacobson Corp of Racine for 38 ½ years, retiring in 1984.

Joseph enjoyed bowling, word search puzzles and his trips to Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife Helen; son Michael (Laurel) Swendrowski of Wisconsin Rapids; daughter in law Susan Swendrowski of Wisconsin Rapids; three grandchildren Drew (Lisa) Swendrowski, Andrea (Luke) Weiland and Brad Swendrowski; and seven great grandchildren Alexis, Ava, John Daniel "JD", Nolan, Kathryn, Brooke and Brad. Joseph is survived by many other relatives and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, son John Swendrowski, four brothers Ed, Sylvester, Leo and Harry Michalski four sisters Sophie Piastowski, Blanche Ise, Jen Herchen and Dorothy Swendrowski and his in laws John and Josephine Mikolaiczyk.

The Swendrowski family would like to thank the staff of the Retirement Community of Nekoosa for the special care given to Joseph. Many thanks also to Dr. Craig Flinders, Heartland Hospice and UW Riverview Cancer Center.
