James "Jim" R. Goodbar, 84, passed on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 in Jamestown.
Born on Nov. 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Cecil and Cleo Tidd Goodbar.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Jefferson High School in Bowersville. He worked for ODOT in various capacities and retired after 30 years. He was a life member of the NRA, longtime member of the Lions Club, past member of Bowersville Village Council, and a member of the Bowersville Church of Christ.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Sanderson Goodbar, who passed in 2012. The two were high school sweethearts and were married 62 years.
Jim is survived by his grandchildren, Shelly (Thomas) Akerman and Josh (Hannah) Goodbar, of Georgia, along with their mother Lisa (Jim) Thomas, and their daughter, Kylie. Also left to cherish his memory are great-grandchildren, Annabel and Jonah; a sister, Beverly (Robert) Caldwell of Wilmington; and an aunt, Ruth (Bill) York of Hillsboro; along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jim is preceded in death by his son, Steven Goodbar; an infant brother, Robert W. Goodbar; and mother and father in-law, Milton and Mary Sanderson.
Funeral services will be held at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, March 4 at 12:30 p.m. Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bowersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bowersville Church of Christ in Bowersville.
