Judy and Family, I just learned of your loss and I can't express to you how deeply sorry I am. I will always fondly remember your family by Jill's tremendous wedding cake and Dr. Burnett trying to find a cart with wheels to get it into Wesley Hall because it was too heavy to lift and carry that far. Also, your family preferred chocolate cake with "lots of icing". Then, when my husband Owen lost his Aunt Ruth years later, we discovered that his cousin Christine and her husband Albert were very close friends of your family. It's such a small world. I think of your family often and I pray for your peace and comfort in the knowledge that your loved one has completed his journey home to the arms of God. God be with each of you. Owen and I will continue to remember your family in our prayers.

Wes, So sorry for the loss of your father. It has been a long time, but we do remember him and Judy. Hopefully the next few days will be filled with loving memories. Dick and Susie Davis (Stacy's mom)

Words can't express how deeply sorry we are for your loss. Charles was a wonderful man and cousin, and we all loved him very much. He was always the one comforting us during the last several months.

Precious Judy,

I can't tell you how much my heart aches for you and your family. You are so rich in friends who you and Charles loved and served in all the different churches. Just sorry that I only got to hear him preach at the revival services at Middlesettlements UMC. I now know why everyone loved you both so very much.

I will always cherish the precious memories of our time at Hiwassee and so thankful I got to see you and Charles when I moved back to Maryville.

May God give you peace in this difficult time. I'm sure He has his arms of love around you, Wes and Jill
and the rest of your family.

You are so loved,

Judy,

I have been thinking about you. I know
what it's like to lose your husband. Charles was such a good Christian man and we love both of you. Eddie and Charles had grown very close over the past few years. Eddie is grateful that Charles was there for him when Eddie needed him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

With deepest sympathy,

Judy and family,
My deepest sympathies and daily prayers are with your family. My family will miss Charles deeply. I remember when our daughter, Lori, would go straight into Charles' office when she was five years old just to give Charles a hug before Sunday School at St. Paul Methodist. I think it made Charles' day as much as it did Lori's. He was a kind and gentle man. Heaven is rejoicing to have such a good and faithful servant.

May God bless you during this time. Charles was such a wonderful man. I worked with him in weddings and funerals when he was at Woodlawn. He even gave our bacclaureate sermon when I graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1967. God has another angel in heaven...that's for sure. Linda Hanks Anthony

Love, sympathy and prayer for consolation are extended most earnestly for all in Charles' family. He was regarded as a spiritually sensitive and quietly patient man, who will be missed, as we remember him and realize our gratitude for his gifts and for our time with him. Judy and family,
Lana and I are so deeply saddened to hear of Charles' death. We loved him so much. My connection to Charles as you know is through South Knoxville and hearing of Granny Thompson talk of how much she loved to take care of Charles and Calvin when they were so young. Charles used to bring Lana's uncle Ray Tipton home after church service when you all were at St. Mark's in Louisville. Lana and I didn't have a church at that time and by Charles coming to the house and his Godly persistence we of course started to come to St. Mark's and have loved it ever since.
Charles also christened our daughter, Lacy, and that has been 35 years ago. She also sends her deepest sympathies as well.
Judy, I must tell you this and hope it is of some comfort to you. I don't ever dream or at least that I remember, but this morning I woke up at 4 AM after spending most of the night talking with Charles in my dream. We talked about a great many things, mostly family, Ray, you all, but the important thing to remember is that at the last he and I were standing in a beautiful pasture with animals all around and we had come to the end of our conversation and Charles told me it was time for him to go and that everything was going to be all right. Like I say, I don't ever dream, but that is the most enjoyable time I have ever had and felt blessed to have known him, had him as our Pastor, and in turn had him care for us as well.

God Bless you and your family,

Gene and Lana Branson
