Charles D. Cornett Charles Donald Cornett, 73, of Wytheville died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010. Funeral service was held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sonny Ayers officiating. A graveside service was held Thursday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. He retired from Hobert N. Grubb in 2002 after 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Eugene and Carol Sutherland Cornett. Survivors include his wife, Genetta Hall Cornett of Wytheville; a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Johnny Brown of Crockett; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Eugene "Gene" and Robin McGee Cornett, Paul Douglas "Smokey" and Ginger Sexton Cornett, all of Rural Retreat; grandchildren, Jessica and Eric Pennington of Chilhowie, Melissa and Kyle Linkous of Bland, Annaleace Brown of Crockett and Lolly Madison Cornett of Rural Retreat; special family member, T'yaanna Rainey; great-grandchildren, Collin Pennington, Makenzie Pennington and Hunter Pennington; special friend, Jerry Wittorp; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wytheville Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial donations may be made to the Wytheville Volunteer Fire Department. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
