Douglas M. Gordon Douglas McArthur Gordon, 67, of Rural Retreat passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at his home. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 31, at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Will Shewey officiating. A committal service was held Saturday, Jan. 1, at 11 a.m. in the Black Lick Cemetery. He was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Wythe County, son of the late Henry H. and Lucy Schrader Gordon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Louise Gordon; sisters, Betty Wynn, Janie Tuggle, Mary Gordon, Josie Gordon, Carrie Poe, Anna Belle Wynn and Lizzie Luttrell; and brothers, Bill Gordon and Freeman Gordon. Survivors include a daughter Tammy D. Arnold and her fianc‚e, Christopher Markle of Rural Retreat; a son, Clinton D. Gordon of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Douglas J. Arnold, Christopher D. Arnold, Audrey B. Gordon, and Katlain D. Gordon; a stepgranddaughter, Lorie Ward; a stepgreat-grandchild, Austin Six; three great-grandchildren, Ethan A. Arnold, Matthew N. Arnold and Audrey S. Arnold; a sister, Helena Sharrar of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; two brothers, Lacy Gordon and Danny Gordon, both of Rural Retreat; and several nieces and nephews. Lindsey Funeral Home of Rural Retreat was in charge of the arrangements.
