Widener Edna Alberta Widener, 84, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was born March 3, 1926, in Washington County to the late Lacy and Frona Warden Widener. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Doyle, Cleatis Widener, Golden Buck and Pauline Jones; brothers Hobert Widener, Herman Widener, Buford Widener and Charles Widener; and a special sister-in-law, Evelyn G. Widener. Survivors include one brother, Gordon Widener of Marion, whose love and devotion made her last years a pleasant journey, and many nieces and nephews to whom she was like a second mother. She was greatly loved by each and every one of them. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial followed in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alberta's name to The Lincoln Theatre Foundation, P.O. Box 664, Marion, VA 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
