Gary S. Asbury Gary Sherwood Asbury, 59, of Knoxville, Tenn., formerly of Max Meadows, died Friday afternoon, Sept. 17, 2010, at his home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Cox officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Nester Cemetery in Austinville. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He is survived by his spouse of 29 years, Donna; two sons, Mathew and Matheas; parents, Albert and Virginia Asbury; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Fred Nester, Kathy and Billy Martin, Darlene Vaught, Shelby Fisher, Sheila Smith and Sherry Jones; brother, Ricky Asbury; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
