Jennie C. Morris Jennie Lou Crockett Morris, 86, a lifelong resident of Wytheville and Wythe County, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010. A graveside service was held Saturday, Oct. 9, at noon at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. She was born Jan. 16, 1924, in the Crockett's Cove section of Wythe County, daughter of the late Samuel Thorn and Agnes Simmerman Crockett. She attended Sullins College in Bristol where she received a certificate in accounting and worked there teaching horseback riding. She worked as secretary for Hobert N. Grubb Inc. and then Wythe County Schools as secretary for 24 years serving George Wythe High School and the Wythe County Vocational School. She grew up loving horses and always stayed involved in activities centered around her horses and pets. She taught local youth and adults to ride and helped with the Wytheville horse shows. She helped start the Wythe County Saddles and Bridles 4-H Club. She always held a special place in her heart for Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and her friends there. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wythe Carroll Morris Sr. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Davis of Max Meadows and Mrs. Emma Thorn "Thornie" Lively of Pulaski; three children, Wythe C. Morris Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Wytheville, Elbert Simmerman Morris of Greenbelt, Md., Rebecca Ann "Becky" Hilton and Joe Crawford of Barren Springs; three grandchildren, Justin Hammond Morris and wife, Sarah, of Virginia Beach, Eric Alan Morris and David Lawrence Morris, both of Greenbelt, Md.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Crockett of Pulaski; and a special friend, Kathy Bishop. Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.

Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. Mrs. Morris will always be remembered as a very kind lady who took time to help a lot of people. She made a differance in the lives of others. Heaven now has another Angel for sure.
