Keaster Shortridge Keaster Shortridge, 81 years of age of Claypool Hill, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, went to be with the Lord Monday, September 20, 2010 at his residence. Born in Buchanan County, August 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Wayne Shortridge and Georgia Perkins Shortridge. Keaster was a successful Coal Operator, and was a member of the Harman Holiness Church. He enjoyed traveling and going to NASCAR races. He loved the Lord and attending church and helping people thru out his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Shortridge, and his sister, Jeannie Elias. He is survived by soul mate of 19 years, Rosella Hess of Claypool Hill, VA; daughter, Tammy Renee Shortridge Click of Richmond, VA; three sons, Gary Keaster Shortridge and wife, Joann, of Abingdon, VA, Rusty Shortridge and wife, Linda, of Wytheville, VA, Quinton Shortridge and wife, Rhonda, of Richlands, VA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Burks Shortridge of Grundy, VA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lois Skeens of Grundy, VA, Phylis Stiltner of Atlanta, GA, Betty Dubin of Loveland, OH, Millie Conner of Phoenix, AZ; two uncles, Charlie Perkins of Grundy, VA and Jimmy Perkins of Grundy, VA. He was also survived by Godson, Charlie Altizer and wife, Tamela, of Breaks, VA; Goddaughter, Brenda Baker of Grundy, VA; two God grandchildren and four God great-grandchildren. Best friends, Jason and Joyce Short of Claypool Hill, VA; special friends, Shirley Gibson of Grundy, VA and Norma Jean Wilson of Abingdon, VA. Funeral services for Keaster Shortridge were conducted Sat., Sept. 25, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Hess and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Entombment followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA. Active pallbearers were: Brad Johnson, Cale Shortridge, Chris Shortridge, Robert Wayne Skeens, Jamie Perkins, Jeff Blankenship, David Evans and Charlie Altizer. Honorary pallbearers were: Randall Skeens, Dr. Kabaria, Dean Hash, Clyde Horne, Bill Sawyers, James Foster, Richard Wilson, Ralph Perry, Henry E. Farmer II, Arvile Fife and Robert (Bob) Dennis. The family received friends at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Evening services were held Thursday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. Memorial condolences may be e-mailed to the family at www.shortridgeramey.com The family of Keaster Shortridge have entrusted the care of their loved one to Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home of Grundy, VA.
