Leonard Lola Dunford Leonard, 91, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Valley Health Care Center. She was born in Smyth County to the late Benton and Nannie Dunford and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Leonard, and her brothers and sisters, Conley, Raymond, Johnny, Dorsey, Peggy, Flo, Elsie and Pearl. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Oregon. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Eleanor Leonard of Chilhowie; eight grandchildren, Glenda Ellis and husband, Ralph, of Independence, Bobbie Newberry of Manassas Park, Pearl Rouse and husband, Larry, of Marion, Robert Leonard and wife, Carol, of Chilhowie, Edward Leonard and wife, Sheri, of Leesburg, Jeffery Leonard of Richmond, Daniel Leonard of Marion, Christie Dent and husband, Randy, of Bland; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Stanley Dunford of Portland, Ore. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Lambert officiating. Interment followed in the Greenwood Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley's Funeral Home of Marion was in charge of arrangements.
